Rocklands Performance Climbing Retreat

August 2-12, 2026 | Rocklands, South Africa

A world-class environment, approached with purpose.

This 10-day retreat is designed for adult climbers who want to level-up their climbing on the best boulders in the world. Participants work in partnership with Realization coaches to clarify objectives, train in advance, and apply focused coaching on the rock — refining movement, decision-making, and projecting strategy in real time. Sessions are purposeful and demanding, balanced with enough recovery and reflection to ensure learning actually sticks.

Beyond the boulders, the experience is fully curated. Comfortable accommodations, high-quality meals, seamless logistics, and optional cultural excursions allow you to stay focused on climbing — not coordination. The result is not just a successful trip, but a clearer understanding of how to train, perform, and progress as a climber — both outside and in.

Your objectives. Our coaching framework.

Rocklands offers a uniquely dense and varied bouldering landscape — an ideal testing ground for climbers with clear objectives. Rather than prescribing projects, this retreat centers on athlete-defined goals, whether that means completing a long-standing line, refining movement in a specific style, or improving performance across multiple days of high effort.

Goals and Training

Coaching is hands-on, collaborative, and responsive. Athletes receive real-time technical feedback, help with movement problem-solving, and strategic input around pacing, projecting, and recovery — all adapted to individual goals and experience levels.

The aim is not dependency, but skill transfer: leaving with better tools for evaluating effort, making adjustments, and managing performance independently.

Coaching and Feedback

Comfortable lodging, quality food, and thoughtful scheduling create the conditions needed to pursue ambitious goals over multiple days. Cabins at Rosenhof Guesthouse provide quiet space for rest, reflection, and — when necessary — limited remote work, supported by reliable wifi.

Rest days are intentionally placed to support goal pursuit. Time away from the rock is used to reflect on progress, adjust plans, address mobility and tissue health, and go on optional cultural excursions.

Lodging and Rest Days

High-level outdoor performance requires sound judgment. Coaches support athletes in managing risk through discussion, terrain assessment, pad strategy, and spotting — while maintaining athlete autonomy and responsibility.

The focus is on helping climbers make better decisions in complex environments, not removing decision-making from their hands.

Risk and Decision-Making

Progression that starts before the trip.

With an included six-week strength and movement training plan customized to your goals and areas of growth, your progression will begin before you even set foot in Rocklands – so that you arrive ready to perform at your highest level.

Step 01 – Clarifying the objective

Remote Performance Consultation

The process begins two months before the retreat with a one-on-one remote consultation focused on defining clear, realistic objectives for Rocklands. Together, we assess current strengths, limiting factors, recent training history, and the specific demands of the goals you want to pursue.

This conversation is collaborative and athlete-led. The aim is not to prescribe outcomes, but to establish a shared understanding of what success looks like and what will be required to pursue it effectively.

Step 02 – Prepare with intention

Personalized Training Plan

Based on the consultation, coaches develop a personalized six-week training plan designed to address relevant weaknesses and reinforce strengths in the lead-up to the trip. Plans are practical, time-efficient, and built to integrate into real life — not idealized training scenarios.

Athletes implement the plan independently, with scheduled check-ins and limited remote support to refine execution, answer questions, and ensure the work stays aligned with the original objectives.

Step 03 – Apply on real rock

Perform in a World-Class Environment

The final step is applying new capacity on the rock. In Rocklands, athletes work with coaches to translate improved strength, movement, and decision-making into real performance — adapting plans as needed and responding to the demands of outdoor bouldering.

The focus is on execution, feedback, and adjustment, allowing preparation to show up where it matters most: on your chosen goals, in a demanding and inspiring setting.

The perfect trip for anyone serious about progressing as a climber.
